Mountain range Moskal
The ridge stretches from the Sharovsky cordon on Lake Zyuratkul to the former Olimpiev cordon. Height 1029 m. Translated from the Bashkir language, “Moskal” is translated as “witch’s mountain”. It is known that back in the 18th century on Moscow there were wooden idols worshiped by the Bashkirs, the name of the ridge reflects the beliefs of the ancient Bashkirs.
There was a volcano here during the Proterozoic. Paleovolcano was discovered in the 50s of the last century. Moskalsky paleovolcano is unique not only for the Urals, but also for the whole of Russia. Here, in the vent of the volcano on an area of a little more than one square kilometer, basalts and many ancient rarities were discovered, more than seventy minerals in total. This is the highest concentration of minerals in Russia, a real miracle of nature. Geologists, this place is called the "Moskal casket."
